Artist Bio: Creative Documenter

Hi! I am Yi Qian, you can also call me YQ. Ths photo is me in the A Piece of Peace Centre unit, taking a photo of the person who took my photo, which looks like I am taking a photo of you. I will be documenting documentations of Peace Centre, including this documentation project. What? I will be documenting past, present and future documentation projects about Peace Centre. It will be something like finding scattered documents, trying to arrange them, and giving them space to connect with each other. Why? I am interested in documentation as a process, and the accessibility of documents. Most of the time, the document takes centre stage. But I think the process of creating the document is equally interesting. In the third photo, I doodled different ways of documenting, like on the phone, computer and paper. To me, documentation is a creative practice. Especially since the documenter has direct influence in deciding what gets documented. How? I hope to play with the physical and digital space, while also navigating the line between documenting for the public and the personal. I hope to send you an invitation to share your documents and documentation process at Peace Centre before it closes in end-January, and I hope to digitise the documents with accessibility in mind.
