A Piece of Peace Centre is a Creative Residency that was housed in #03-20 Peace Centre, from November 2023 to January 2024. It comprises a core group of Creative Residents, who sought to participate in and document the mall’s social incubation experiment.

With our unit studio acting as our mini “research outpost”, we did site-observation and actively followed the evolution of the space over time.

Each Resident project produced a final creative deliverable, and a 1 public engagement/event.

Peace Centre was slated to close in 2023. However, there was a last-minute intervention by events management company PlayPan to stay its demolition. For an extended 5 months of time (till January 2024), the old mall became the home of impact-oriented businesses, art installations, and community projects.
Originally, A Piece of Peace Centre **was founded as a creative documentation project that sought to capture the story of Peace Centre: both its impending closure, and its temporary new lease of life. This project does not seek to holistically represent and capture all that transpired in the mall in its extended lifespan, and merely seeks to capture and share ‘a piece’ of this experimental adventure.
APPC has since evolved from a project into a budding collective. From late 2023 to early 2024, a multidisciplinary group of creatives took up "Residency" in the mall with the purposes of engaging in collaborative, multi-modal research and documentation process of the temporary activations at Peace Centre. In this duration, the Residents sought to directly participate and interact with the inhabitants of Peace Centre and make playful micro-interventions within the mall's ecosystem.
One of our key interventions were our public workshop series, titled "Situations", (explore Public engagements for more details) where we have been facilitating discussions including but not limited to space, memory, and how they shape our individual and collective identities. In this process, we gathered curious friends and learners, who form the periphery of our work.
